Botox is the trade name for a substance called Botulinum Toxin type A.  This substance can also be referred to as a neuromodulator or wrinkle-relaxer, trade names such as Botox/Xeomin/Dysport.  In small doses, this injected substance works by temporarily preventing muscles from contracting, thus, reducing muscle activity that causes persistent lines to form on the face and neck.  This treatment is a low discomfort, non-surgical procedure and should be administered by a qualified healthcare professional.
